Train Of Thought To Nowhere

A television documentary I viewed a couple of days ago had the presenter talking about how science had grown in leaps and bounds, and how technology to date had uncovered many things about the Universe we live in. It got me Thinking.

Does Science Have All The Answers

One particular subject was the Big Bang. It is believed the universe began about 13.8 billion years ago in an incredibly dense and hot state, marked by a cosmic “Big Bang.” This event triggered the rapid expansion and cooling of the universe. As it cooled down, subatomic particles formed into atoms like hydrogen and helium through nuclear reactions.

As the universe continued to evolve, stars were born from clouds of gas and dust. These stars exploded in supernovae events, spreading their elements throughout space, which later condensed to form new stars, planets, and eventually complex structures conducive to life as we know it.

Over time, matter has aggregated under the force of gravity, leading to the formation of galaxies like our own Milky Way. About 85% of the universe is thought to be composed of dark matter—non-luminous particles that interact through gravity—and dark energy, which drives the accelerated expansion of the universe. However. the Big Bang theory hasn’t been overturned, but it has been significantly refined and expanded over time.

Conflicting Versions

Now back to my post about God, the Bible, and the world we live in. How did I leap from the Big Bang to a God-like individual (They both claim to have fashioned our Universe) whose teachings have been handed down through the Bible?

Briefly, the Bible would have us believe that God created the world in six days, and on the seventh, he rested. Scientists think that about 13.8 billion years ago, our entire universe was like that of a tiny, infinitely hot dense balloon – called a singularity.

Okay, so which theory would you believe? If you go with the Big Bang you then reject the version the Bible suggests. So for the sake of starting somewhere let us go with religion.

The Bible says God created the world in six/seven days is the Bible wrong? If so, then other parts of the Bible that link to God’s creation may also be incorrect.

The one teaching (for this posting) I am thinking about is Adam and Eve.
The Bible teaches that Adam lived and maintained the Garden of Eden (paradise). To keep him company he created a woman from a rib bone in Adam’s body and called the woman Eve.

The Bible goes on to say that Eve gave in to the Devil’s temptation and ate an apple from the tree of knowledge that God had forbidden them to touch… let’s cut to the chase God expelled them both from the garden to where else, but good old Earth.

Scientific Study Proves Other Wise

If scientists are right and the Big Bang Theory is correct the teachings of Adam and Eve are wrong. This got me thinking. (weird thought coming on) Could Adam and Eve have been just an old-world bedtime story for naughty children of the time? Could this have been one way the church guaranteed its following?

This teaching/story has one of the Ten Commandments built into it… (8) Thou shall not steal, if you do you will be punished similarly as Adam and Eve were. As science marches ever forward it is little wonder religion has taken a back seat these days.

The Large Hadron Collider

Now if you come down on the side of religion no matter what, then you will never believe the Big Bang Theory, or have I got that wrong? I suppose you could argue further who/what put the matter/antimatter there in the first place, to have the Big Bang happen.

Here ends the lesson… I am only joking people… We can put our trust in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) being the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator might hold all the answers. Those who believed it would create a Black Hole when it was switched on were entitled to their opinion. It did not create the feared “Black Hole”, or maybe our game warden will lock the cage door before we get enough knowledge to journey too far into outer space. That’s another post!
